There’s something quite special about watching a creative idea spark into life. Cosmic Routes is one of those projects that started as a spark and grew into a full constellation.
Artist Charlotte Webb has been working with young people from The Way Youth Zone to create a mural that captures youth culture in Wolverhampton right now, a proper snapshot in time. Their ideas are bold, funny, imaginative and proudly local, all wrapped up in a cosmic theme that gives the piece its name.
The final mural now lives in the Upper Gallery of the Mander Centre, and it’s the first of nine artworks in the Wolverhampton City of Youth Culture Visual Arts Trail. It’s a little time capsule for the future, ready to be rediscovered by the next generation.
Charlotte’s been sharing the story behind the project in a lovely blog post — from the first workshops to the moment the mural went up.
