REFLECTIONS

Artist Kathleen Fabre and Young Creators aboard the IKON Slow Boat

Reflections  (2024)

Drift into a dreamlike journey along Wolverhampton’s historic waterways. Created aboard IKON Gallery’s Slow Boat with artist Kathleen Fabre, Reflections explores the shimmer of the canal and the deeper meanings young people uncovered along the way.

Over four hot summer days, groups of young creators set sail, drawing inspiration from the water’s rhythm and calm. Through experimental workshops – metal embossing, acetate drawing, playing with texture, transparency, and light they captured shifting thoughts, memories, and self-reflection.

The result: a layered artwork both delicate and powerful, mirroring identity, memory, and place. Reflections glistens with movement and meaning, anchoring personal stories in the city’s timeless waterways.

Location:  Wolverhampton Station, Corn Hill Wolverhampton West Midlands WV1 1LE

This artwork is part of a nine-piece Visual Arts Trail across Wolverhampton, co-created by young people and artists through hands-on workshops. Four artworks are now installed and ready for you to explore on the trail! Artworks 5 to 9 will be created and installed in late 2025 and early 2026.
