Zine Making Workshop
A zine (pronounced “zeen”) is a small, self-published booklet or magazine. It is usually made by one person or a tiny group. People create zines by hand or with a copier.
Despite the rise of the internet, physical zines endure today as an essential, uncensored medium for marginalized voices and independent artists celebrated at community zine fests and preserved in library archives.
People share personal ideas, art, or niche topics instead of aiming for profit, Short for fanzine or magazine, there are many ways to make a zine but it mostly includes Folded paper, simple staples, and photocopies as well as self expression and lots of art!
In this workshop we will explore the zine, how it is constructed and the most common themes of Art, poetry, personal life stories, and current life topics.
These sessions are open to people aged 14 and above but under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
You are encouraged to bring along your own art supplies to explore, however we do have a selection for you to use if you don’t have access. We have pens, pencils, stencils, paints and collage sheets, plus tools and papers.
