As our New Producers 2025 series continues, we’re delighted to introduce another passionate creative from the Black Country who’s on a mission to build bold, community-led cultural experiences.

Meet Karina – Walsall-based aspiring producer and proud daredevil!

A show-stopping first experience

“The first cultural event I went to was the Beyoncé Experience concert when I was 14 years old. It was an unforgettable night filled with energy, music, and amazing performances. It really opened my eyes to the power of live entertainment and stage production.”

Finding joy, colour and community

“One of the most meaningful cultural experiences I’ve had was attending a Caribbean carnival. The music, colourful costumes, and sense of community made me feel so connected to the culture and its joyful spirit. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of heritage, celebration, and togetherness.”

Why Karina joined New Producers

“I applied for the Producers Programme because I’m passionate about creating events that bring people together and celebrate culture. I want to learn how to plan and deliver meaningful experiences that make a difference in communities. This programme feels like the perfect opportunity to build my skills and grow creatively.”

What she’s enjoying most so far

“I’m really enjoying the guest speakers and special sessions focused on specific topics, they’ve been both inspiring and informative. Meeting new people in the industry has also been a highlight; it’s great to connect with others who share similar passions and ambitions. These experiences are expanding my perspective and helping me grow as a producer.”

Loving the Black Country spirit

“My favourite thing about living in Black Country is the strong sense of community and pride people have in the area. I also love the mix of cultures—you can see it in the food, music, and local events. It feels like a place with real character and warmth.”

Looking ahead: a community celebration

“In five years’ time, I’d love to create a community-led cultural festival that brings together local talent, music, food, and art from different backgrounds. It would be a family-friendly event that celebrates diversity and gives young people a platform to shine. My dream is to make it something the whole community looks forward to every year.”

One last surprise…

“A random fact about me is that I’m a bit of a daredevil—I’ve love skydiving! I also love music, write my own songs, and sing. Oh, and I’m currently learning Spanish too :)”

And that’s a wrap on our New Producers 2025 spotlight series – we can’t wait to see what this brilliant, bold and creative cohort goes on to do next. Wishing them all the very best for the future from Wolverhampton Arts Centre and China Plate Theatre
