Wolverhampton Arts Centre has unveiled an exciting and richly diverse programme for its Folk at Wolverhampton Arts Autumn 2025 season, with four powerful performances that span traditional roots, bold new collaborations, and a touch of winter magic.
Opening the season on 13 September, the legendary Martin Simpson returns to the stage. Widely regarded as one of the finest acoustic and slide guitarists in the world, Martin’s solo performances are intense, poetic and unforgettable. With 32 BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominations to his name, Simpson continues to captivate audiences with stories told through strings and song.

On 18 October, Grace Will Lead Me Home explores the life and legacy of Amazing Grace writer John Newton. This powerful new piece is created by Angeline Morrison, Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne, Jon Bickley and John Palmer, and features traditional and original songs interwoven with historical texts. It delves into themes of slavery, faith, protest and colonialism.
November brings a stunning musical pairing as Andy Cutting and Gudrun Walther take to the stage on 15 November. A master of melodeon and a celebrated German fiddle player, their show promises musical chemistry, spontaneity and folk virtuosity at its finest.

Rounding off the year in festive style is Winter Wonderband, a chamber folk quartet bringing seasonal warmth on 13 December. With dulcimer, cello, harp and melodeon, this joyful celebration blends original compositions with winter-themed folk favourites.
